Savannah Westin Hotel
This hotel looks great and would be great if there weren't a charge tacked on to everything.
The view is spectacular although the rooms are small. The beds are comfortable but the doors
are not a good sound barrier. We heard anyone talking in the hall.
The bottled water that they display for you on the table with glasses ready to pour is $3.50/ea.
The room service is $2.50 sevice charge plus 20% gratuity whether service is good or bad.
Valet parking if you choose to use it is $15 set charge. I would not mind paying these amounts
and do anyway but I reward according to service and I always get good service when this is true.
Westin needs to take another look at their penny pinching policies and reward their guests with
the good service they pay for.
The Westin Savannah Harbor Resort & Spa -- Savannah, GA
July 27
This was the second stop on our recent vacation in the South. It was certainly the best hotel
we
encountered on our whole vacation. The room was spacious and clean. We love the "Heavenly
Beds,"
they ARE heavenly and we slept very well at this hotel. The bathroom was large, clean and had a
decent vanity area and great shower. Rooms included an iron, ironing board and a coffee maker
with delicious Starbucks coffee. We had a view of the lagoon and while I would not say it was
lovely, we did enjoyed watching the alligators sun themselves from our safe 9th floor room. Room
service was super speedy and our meal was delicious.
The main areas of the hotel are very elegant. We spent several early evenings in the bar and had
good service and a decent hamburger. The pool is large and very clean and is terraced above the
Savannah River -- very pretty!
We had to ferry across the river to get to the actual downtown area of old Savannah as the hotel
sits on an island of sorts. The ferry runs frequently and our only complaint is that the ferry
stops running at 10:30 PM -- a little early, particularly if you do any late sight seeing or one
of the many ghost tours. The ferry also stops running if it rains, so be prepared to be stuck
or take a long taxi ride back to the hotel.
