The Bacara Resort
The Bacara is simply fabulous...
Customer Service:
I experienced the most amazing customer service from the moment I arrived - the person
that greeted me when I drove up, the check in process, and the person that took me to my
room - friendly and eager to please.
My room:
Beautiful and tasteful - view of the pool and the beach.
Super comfy bed, frette sheets and product by Fresh - what more can I say? :)
The property:
I had no idea how beautiful the resort would be. The Bacara does not play this up on
their
website - I was pleasantly surprised by the beach access and the pools.
The spa/workout facility:
didn't have a chance to get any treatments but the workout facility was fantastic.
I've been lucky enough to stay at a number of beautiful properties along the california
coast and now that I've stayed at the Bacara I've got a new favorite place - dreamy!

Review of Bacara in Santa Barbara, CA.
In going to a wedding and there being an air of excitement we were anticipating a wonderful
weekend.
When we got there wow, we got anything but a warm welcome. We checked in, but had to wait to
be "shuttled" to the room. When my wife and i got there, it was in the basement and left a
little to want. The room was beautiful inside, but the hallway we were on had a utility closet
and a housekeeping cart just sitting there. They leave alot of items just sitting around.
That evening after a wonderful dinner, because of the company, not the food which is below average
for a high quality resort, we were treated to being woke up at 6am and there after by noise from
people walking up the stairs and in the entrance hallway which echoed because the hallway just
above us was leading to the elevator for this building. They had no soundproofing on the walls.
Basically this resort was built for show, not quality construction.
We got too little sleep for a special weekend. we did complain and got switched to another room.
later i talked to a friend who had stayed there 3x who told me that you have to check out your
room and complain immediately if you don't like it, they have alot of rooms which are clunkers.
Now here comes the good, part, it is beautiful around the resort and the nightime beach view of
the oil rig offshore is pretty. also is the oil refinery next door which the literature neglected
to mention is nicely hidden. (not)
Basically this resort is in a bad location where they got alot of land. separately, it is just
way overpriced, even if they got the kinks out of the system, it would be over priced.
Bacara isnt the Four Seasons or Beverly Hills Hotel, I know those hotels well, (well at least
some of the 4 Seasons) and the owner of Bacara is kidding himself by pricing it this high.
Stay somewhere else, it isnt worth the money unless you get a deal, and watch where they put
you.

My girlfriend and I stayed three nights at the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara. This place is kinda creepy. Whenever me and my girlfriend wanted to go to the beach we were followed by some security guards and watched. One actually asked my girlfriend how old she was. When I finally complained at the desk the third day they told me they were having trouble with the locals. The employees seemed to feel stuck. A very weird atmosphere exists at this place even though the rooms are accomadating.

Bacara Resort: Goleta, California.
Even on the backdrop of the fact that I was recovering from a signficiant bout of food poisoning
and the fact that the weather, while pleasant, was not Santa Barbara perfect, my husband and I
loved Bacara. It is incredibly beautiful, right on the beach. Spanish Mission style but more
elegant. The rooms feel like little houses more than rooms. The infinity pools are peaceful,
the jacuzzi is powerful. The spa is the best I've seen in California. The service impeccable.
I will say that it seemed that the staff goes out of their way to look for tips. Because Bacara
is so perfect, even a tiny out of place item is noted. The room service food was delicious.
When I called, the lowest rate for a garden view room with a king sized bed and a fireplace
was $495. I stayed on the phone with the gal long enough that it became $295: the bottom line
is that they'd rather have someone in their room for something than no one in the room for
nothing. I asked for late check out thinking maybe they'd give me another hour. They gave us
four hours. Very, very classy. We can't wait to go back.
