Mandolay Bay Hotel Las Vegas, Nv Checked in to Mandolay Bay on Saturday 2/12/05. Their reservations dept. had incorrectly put me down for a check out on 2/15/04 instead of 2/16/05. I brought it to the clerks attention and he said they were full the night of 2/15/05. I explained that this was their mistake and I would need to stay over. He checked with someone ( who was hidden in the rear and never came out ) and informed me that I could stay the 15th but the rate would be $599 instead of the $109 I was paying. I told him no thanks thinking I would speak with a suoervisor the next day. I corraled a supervisor ( they don't willing talk with guests at Mandolay Bay ) the next day. I explained that the reservation dept. had made a mistake and I'd like to stay over the 15th. He came back and said he could offer me a "stayover rate" of $399. Such a deal! I did have a good deal with a rate of $239 on Sat. and $109 the other nights but it was a prepayment offer they had. Had I cancelled I would have forfeited my deposit. Basically Mandolay Bay saw a chance to overcharge because there was a convention in town. Be careful if you book there! Other minor irritations included no in room coffee maker, no mini bar and toilet paper one grade above a corn cob.

Mandalay Bay - Las Vegas Not worth the money!!!! I was expecting a water park for the kids, but all they have is a wave pool and a lazy river and three normal swimming pools. No tube slides etc. Then they want $20 to rent a tube for the lazy river that you can buy for $5. Pool area closes at 7 pm, opens at 8:30 am and then they kick you out of the hotel at 11 am. If you want a water park, skip this place! Also they make you walk from the parking lot towing suitcases the entire length of the hotel/casino to get to your hotel room. At check in time, the parking lot and hotel elevators are clogged and we had to wait 20 minutes. Food is too pricey; we either went to the Luxor or Excalibur to eat. No coffee maker or refrigerator, but they do have a big bathroom. All in all, I was really disappointed.

Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas is one of the most beautiful resorts in the strip - a wonderful combination of elegance and hip decor. The average guest rooms are some of the nicest on the Strip (I've stayed at most of them). However, recently the level of service and maintenance has severely undermined this, my favorite strip resort. Staffing seem undertrained, and room maintenance is so poor that rooms often have burned out lights, inoperative internet connections, etc. (A friend of mine was moved four times and never did get placed in a room in which everything worked. When she asked for the general manager's name so she might write with your concerns, six different employees said they did not know who that was!) Any request that is a bit out of the ordinary (such as needing to rent a wheelchair, which I had need to do for a guest with me) is met with blank stares and uncertain responses. Someone else mentioned the exhorbitant prices at the food court, and I would agree, and the Mexican Border Grille has gone from excellent to lousy (I have returned three times, hoping I had just caught them in "off nights", but after these repeated visits, I can state that it is not the place to go for Mexican food anymore). However, Rum Jungle is superb, and the Red, White, and Blue restaurant has the finest breakfast I've ever had (not cheap, but excellent, and large enough to hold a person until dinner). With the pending take-over by MGM/Mirage, the questionable level of service and maintenance may be corrected - I certainly hope so, for this place has more going for it than any other in this resort mecca. The new "THE Hotel at Mandalay" - a freestanding all suite hotel just opened at Mandalay has beautiful rooms, but they are rather tiny for suites, and the lighting is great for romance but rather poor for reading. Its lobby is the most stylish in Las Vegas, and the staff seem more on the ball than in the bigger Mandalay Bay hotel. The new "Mandalay Place", a shopping mall between Mandalay and Luxor, is still getting some stores open, and it shows promise in having unique shops, but it is no where as big as the Forum Shops at Caesars or Desert Passage at the Aladdin. It is fun to look around there, but it is not a shopping destination like these other places. The sports book is large, comfortable, and the house of blues has entertainment offerings nearly every evening. If you have even passing interest in aquariums, don't miss the one here, but go early as the line to get in grows quite long by midday. I love this property, and hope the flaws mentioned above are corrected in the change of corporate ownership. All the flaws of the place are service/maintenance issues; the physical plant itself is beyond compare.

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino 3950 Las Vegas Blvd South Las Vegas, NV 89101 I stayed there while attending a large meeting. It takes fifteen minutes to get from your room to the convention meeting rooms. The air filtration system must be very poor and does not isolate smoking areas from non-smoking (convention area). It circulates smokey air throughout the building. People in our group who had asthma became quite ill. The pool is open for a short time during the day. I think they closed it around 7 PM. It would have been fun, and much more comfortable in the 100 degree heat, to swim in the evening until 10 PM. The health club charged us $35 a day to use it. It seemed like they focused too much on trying to extract more cash from its patrons. The rooms are beautiful.

I stayed at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. As an 11-year old I throughly enjoyed the experience. The pool and beach area were a lot of fun, and we stayed there almost the whole morning. My family and I ate at the buffet since it had a wide variety of food for the whole family. This hotel is perfect for kids because of the beach area and large variety of activities, such as Shark Reef. If you are traveling to Las Vegas with children or teens I suggest Mandalay Bay.

Mandalay Bay - Las Vegas visited August 2003 - 5 night stay. This is Vegas classed up a notch! Bring your walking shoes, since just getting from your room to the casino or restaurants is a trip. Nice rooms, large - jacuzzi tub, marble. Ask for a view of the strip. The hotel is located at the far end of the strip, although it does have a monorail to the Excalibur. If you want to be in the middle of everything- this is not the place. Wonderful pool area, with a wave pool, lazy river and several smaller pools. Great for kids. They had just opened a topless, private pool area (ladies free, men $25.00) that I did not visit. Some great restaurants - loved the Red Square, try the vodka drinks and the beef stroganoff. All in all, a luxury experience - I'd return.

We stayed at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas in 2002. It was wonderful. The front desk check in line was long, but moved quickly. The very polite check-in clerk honored my request of a strip view. Our room was amazing...a high floor and wonderful view. The bathroom was huge, with a shower stall and tub. The room was well furnished, exceptionally clean, and quite comfortable. The pool area was fun, but as stated before, more shade would be nice. The spa was wonderful as well, I had a body wrap and was able to use the hot tubs and eucalyptus steam room. I easily could have spent the whole day in the spa! Another great thing about the Manadalay Bay is the ventilation, the air was always fresh even in the casino where there were lots of smokers. That is quite rare in Vegas! The Mexican restaurant near the Shark Reef was good, as was the coffee shop/restaurant near the casino. House of Blues is also there for a good dinner alternative. For the mornings, there is a small coffee shop on the ground floor, which is convenient.

Mandalay Bay - Las Vegas Beautiful hotel with great rooms. Two of us checked in a the same time for our first visit and were upgraded to suites without asking. The large marble baths and jacuzzis were a plus. No coffee-maker, though, that was surprising. The staff was courteous and efficent. The food at the casual restaurant in the casino, and room service was very good, although the service was a bit slow. The food over at the convention center, though, was mediocre at best. The food court was terribly expensive. The food court at the nex-door Luxor was much more reasonable. I was very comfortable hanging out in the sports book bar, watching 5 baseball games and two basketball games. The House of Blues rocked. And the wave pool and beach is the best in Vegas.

Spa at Bellagio also doesn't compare with Mandalay Bay's (our favorite) or Venetian's.

We stayed there in May 2001. The rooms were great and the huge marble bathroom was a real treat. Service was both courteous and efficient. Only complaint/suggestion--but an important one--is that they DEFINITELY need more shade in their beach and pool areas, especially on the beach. Umbrellas would be a very welcome addition.
