BELLAGIO - No heart and soul This is the most self-centered hotel I have experienced! It's all about the Bellagio, how great the hotel is, the great expansion programs, how it has five stars and more... nothing for the Customer (unless you have plenty of money to spend). After spending $1000 a night we went with high expectations and returned with broken dreams. The room was nice, but the staff was not. Nothing complimentary, not even a glass of water! During the visit, my mother got sick and the insensitive reaction of the the hotel staff was disgusting. No heart and soul. Upper management did not come to the rescue and the Director of Guest Relations did not return my call! Why hand out welcome cards containing "please call me with any problems" if there is no substance behind the words?

Bellagio -- Expensive, yes, but definitely worth it. The service from the staff was exceptional, world-class at every level. Everyone showed a "can-do-no-problem" attitude. You get the distinct impression that they drum it into every single employee's head that the customer is king. The wife and I took pains to notice the little details, like for instance, she noticed that the carpet in the high-traffic areas in the casino was clean. Don't know when they did it, but they did. I noticed that we never waited more than about 15 seconds for an elevator, and we usually had a car to ourselves. This in a 3,000-room hotel with a single bank of elevators. How many elevator horror stories have we all heard at other Strip mega-resorts? The food was also exceptional. Even the breakfast room service croissant was delicious (again, the little details). This applies to the sit-down restaurants too, but their prices are a little dear even by Bellagio standards. And, we wish they had more casual dining selections -- it's either "jacket required" or stand in line at the Buffet (which we didn't).

Bellagio Stayed there over Christmas holidays, and have stayed in most other hotels on the strip, too. Nice, but there are better choices, for less money. Standard room is so-so, but not up to Mandalay Bay and far, far behind Venetian which in lowest category, has a beautiful split level room. Spa at Bellagio also doesn't compare with Mandalay Bay's (our favorite) or Venetian's. Weekend champagne brunch used to be superb, but has fallen to about average, and the lines are horrendous, with no special passes for hotel guests. Other restaurants were very expensive. Bellagio slot machine service is some of the worst on the strip-- I guess they only are interested in taking care of the high rollers at the table games. All in all, Bellagio is a tad sterile, and in general overrated.

Bellagio, Las Vegas, Nevada: Literally, beyond all expectation and comprehension. Went for our anniversary and were welcomed with a chocolate platter for our "special occasion" and a "Bellagio Fountains" C.D. Incredible suite. Marble and glass. Museum quality artifacts. Nice linens, pillows and hangers. Nice robes and slippers. Tiffany and Company and Armani catalouges. Three bathrooms. Steam shower. Whirlpool. TVs and phones in the bathrooms. Shampoo, conditioner, wooden-handled razors, shave gel, hair spray, soap, shower cap, vanity kit, bath gel, Bellagio notepads and pens. I don't think that I will ever stay anywhere, ever again, in Las Vegas. Bellagio is it. Literally. Service: impeccable and extremely thoughtful. Luxury unparalleled. Staff--simply amazing. What more to say?
